Cakes & celebration bakes
Review lid clearance, board fit, side access and carrying stability. Tall decorations may require a higher box or a different opening structure.

Bakery Packaging Buyer Guide
Cake diameter is only one input. A reliable bakery box specification also records the finished decoration height, cake-board size, product temperature at packing, travel time, handling method and exposure to grease or condensation.
The best bakery packaging protects decoration, limits movement and remains practical for staff and customers to assemble, stack and carry. Measure the actual finished bake and board, then approve the structure with a physical fit test before bulk production.
Review lid clearance, board fit, side access and carrying stability. Tall decorations may require a higher box or a different opening structure.
Compartment diameter, finger access and insert depth should hold each item without marking icing, shells or toppings.
Grease, moisture, ventilation and expected holding time affect the paper and structural choice. Product-specific testing matters more than a generic “food box” label.
Selection Matrix
| Product | Main risk | Structure to evaluate | Approval check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Layer cake | Icing touches the lid or board slides | Tall box with compatible cake board and stable base | Load and remove a fully decorated sample |
| Cupcakes | Tipping or topping contact | Compartment insert matched to cup and decoration | Carry test with the intended quantity |
| Macarons | Shell abrasion and movement | Drawer or lid box with fitted channels/dividers | Check finger access and closure pressure |
| Cookies & pastries | Grease marks, crushing and mixed sizes | Tray, divider or grease-managed paper specification | Pack the heaviest intended assortment |
Packaging does not determine shelf life by itself. Ingredients, cooling, hygiene, storage temperature and local food rules must be reviewed separately. Request documentation for any food-contact claim needed by your market.

Buyer FAQ
Allow products to cool according to their handling requirements before closing the package. Ventilation may help some products, but it must be balanced against freshness, contamination and transport conditions. Test the complete pack on the intended route.
Calculate from the finished cake, board and decoration rather than the nominal cake diameter. Provide enough access to load and remove the cake without touching its sides, then confirm with a decorated sample.
A window improves product visibility but adds another material and adhesive interface. Confirm window clarity, fogging risk, crease position and the appropriate local disposal guidance.
Usually not. Cup diameter, rim shape, decoration width and insert depth affect stability. Test the smallest and largest products intended for the same insert.
Do not assume this from appearance or paper color. State where food can touch the package and request the documentation required for the material, printing and intended market.
They depend on size, paper, printing, window or insert requirements, quantity, sample route and production schedule. Confirm them after the full specification and delivery destination are reviewed.
